The best thing that's ever been mine!
Hey all,
So here's the story of Jacob and I.
Last year around February, I got offered a job in Yellowstone National Park. I took the job working at the Yellowstone General Store at Old Faithful from June until August. I showed up in June, about as excited as I could possibly be to work and live in Yellowstone (one of my favorite places on earth)! I started the job and it was pretty terrible at first. It had been about ten days into the job when someone invited me to go to employee bingo night after work. I don't really like bingo, but I had nothing better to do so I went to bingo night. While there someone brought up why I had a Michigan hat on, so I told them that my brother was on a mission there for my church. Out of nowhere, this kid asked what church I belonged to and I told him the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. He got excited and said that he was a member of that church too, that he had recently converted and loved it. After that we started hanging out all the time, because we had our religion in common and therefore had the same lifestyle and values. We went on lots of fun adventures, and on June 24th we decided to start dating, and become official boyfriend and girlfriend.
After that things were pretty cool. We hung out all the time, and created a special place out of Observation Point. This is a mountain near Old Faithful that at the top you can see almost the whole geyser basin. (My new favorite place to watch Old Faithful). We went up there a lot after hard days at work and just talked and got to know each other. Sadly, the day came that I had to leave Yellowstone and go back to school. Since that time Jacob and I have seen each other every weekend, and done lots of fun activities in Idaho Falls and Yellowstone. Last weekend, we decided to go up to Yellowstone for one last weekend there together. While we were there we hiked to the top of Observation Point and waited for Old Faithful to go off.
Once Old Faithful started to erupt, he told me to stand up. I did, and he gave me a hug and said "I love you." I responded "Ok, I love you too, but I want to watch the geyser." He again said "You don't understand I love you!" Once again, "ok, I love you too, but I really want to watch this." For a final time he said it and got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I couldn't possibly say no! I was so excited! We stayed up there for a few minutes after that and talked, and then walked down and finished up our last weekend in Yellowstone cruising around the park looking for animals. We plan to get married on January 8, 2011 in the Idaho Falls temple!

Gotta love tourists!
More than half of my time in Yellowstone is gone, and I realized I have yet to post some of the stupidity that I have to put up with as an employee here. For your enjoyment, here is a short list of some of the questions I have been asked:
Is there nuts in the maple nut ice cream?
Have you ever seen Old Faithful go off?
What's the difference between bison and buffalo?
Is the geyser around here? (my store is a two minute walk from the geyser)
What time of year does Old Faithful shoot the highest?
How do you get to the geyser from here? (I can see it from where I stand at work)
What time do you turn the geyser on in the morning?
You mean I have to pay for the soda I put in my personal water bottle?
Do you make a vegetarian turkey sandwich?
What else is there to do in Yellowstone besides watch Old Faithful?
Is this where we get the ice cream? (standing in front of the coolers in the ice cream loft)
What is a buffalo chip? "answer" Why would you make ice cream out of that?!
Why don't you call Moose Tracks, Moose Scat instead?
What is the geyser made of?
And these are just a few of the many questions I have been asked, and had to remain straight-faced and professional while answering. Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did.

My First Month in Yellowstone!
Hey! I can't believe I've already been in Yellowstone for a month. My job is not so fun, but the off time definitely compensates for that. I have seen and done so many fun things up here. I have been on multiple hikes, met lots of great people, and learned a ton about the world! I am grateful for the opportunity I have to be up here, and to know all the fantastic people that I have met here. How blessed I am to have this experience!

Useless
Hey all,
So I started this blog originally to share the stories of the excellent adventures I plan to have while I am in Yellowstone this summer. I recently found out that I will not be able to use the internet very often or for blogging while I am there so I will have to share my stories with you in some other way, or at a later date on here. My blog, facebook, and possibly email account will be useless all summer, and the chances of getting ahold of me on my cell phone are limited.

Just Chillin'
So last week, I convinced my mom to go to Yellowstone with me for a day long trip on Friday. We went up there and had a blast! We left in the morning, and ate breakfast in the car on the way up there, and once we got to Yellowstone we decided to go north and see if we could find some mountain goats. We did see some, but they were far away on top of a mountain, so we didn't get any good pictures of that. On the way up to the north entrance and back to west, there was a herd of bison that were just like walking down the road for miles, that we ran into. The first time was worse because we were behind them, so we had to like follow them for a little while, 
but on the way back we just had to wait for them to pass the car and we were on our way.
We also saw a few elk, and pronghorn. We went to Old Faithful to find out where I would be living while I am working up there, but we only found the boys dorms. I am hoping that mine are behind the Inn, so I can see Old Faithful from my window. Anyhow, after that we came home from Yellowstone in time to go to dinner at Texas Roadhouse with the family. All in all, it was a great day to pass the time until I go to work at this wonderful place that I love!

Summer's here for me
So I finished my first year at college a few days ago. Finals week was crazy, but as far as I have heard I did really well on most of my tests. I am still in denial that I am not a freshmen anymore...oh well. When I moved home I didn't even have time to move my stuff into the house before we went to dinner with family, and then over to Robyn's to scrapbook. I didn't work on any of my pictures because none of them are printed out. Saturday I had to run back up to Rexburg to grab some stuff that I had forgotten, and then I helped my sisters at their soccer team's first game, and then spent good quality time with them. We went to see "How to Train Your Dragon," and it was a great movie. I love it. Sunday morning we got up and went to Twin Falls for Bryan's baby blessing. We spent almost all day there or traveling to and from there. I still haven't had time to unpack all my stuff til right now so I better get a move on that before something else comes up.

Finishing up my first year

This last year has been crazy. I have spent the past 8 months at school in Rexburg, and loved almost every minute of it. Finals week is coming up, and the bitter-sweetness of ending another semester and saying goodbye to roommates and friends. I am still in denial that I am finishing my first year at college. I have made so many great friends and met lots of wonderful people. I love college life, but I am ready for finals to be over and summer to be here!
